The adidas Superstar is my favourite shoe. Anyone who's followed me for a while knows that. So when adidas asked me to tell the story of its 50th anniversary through my illustrations, this one instantly meant more than most.
The hard part was the edit: fifty years of collaborations, anniversary colourways, new technologies and hyped releases, narrowed down to one poster. I knew the shoe well, but I wanted the list to hold up to real scrutiny, so I brought in two of the UK's most respected Superstar collectors, @dave.lurky and @superstar_luke, to help shape it. The final selection runs from the shoe's early development through changes in shape, materials and manufacturing, mixing icons everyone knows with pairs only true collectors will clock.
I've honestly never put more thought, effort or detail into a single piece of artwork.
